This improvement requires that an organization should connect to the Internet to either upload or access data and also maintain its website. Since the globe has been reduced to a village, the Internet connectivity is of high importance to the leverage on globalization. Therefore, institutions and different organizations are investing in network systems to upgrade and also place themselves in a vantage position for success.

The implementation of Cisco network in our institution is meant to revolutionise the way the institution runs its activities and improve the reach to students and tutors through the provision of resources at the click of a button and improved communication with the student community.
Objectives of Implementing Cisco Network
- To provide information to the students in real time through daily updates on the institution website and other electronic forms.
- To provide students and members with access to the fast and stable Internet for learning and research.
- To enable enrolment to online programs to increase the number of students registering for the programs offered by the institution.
Method Chosen for Project Implementation
The project will be implemented in phases. There will be four phases of the project implementation. The first stage will involve marking the areas where the network systems will be set. These areas will be demarcated to avoid any interference. The second phase will involve digging the trenches where the cables carrying the signal will pass. This phase will also need the installation of different network hardware required to enable access to the Internet. The third stage will involve the real testing of the system at pilot level to determine whether it performs as expected. The fourth and final phase of the project will include the full testing of the whole institution. The students and members of staff will be required to try the system and give feedback on their experience.
Cisco network refers to a system of devices that provides the Internet connectivity to an organization once the network is installed. The system requires both hardware and software in order to ensure the Internet connectivity. The hardware includes routers, servers and cables, while the software needed depends on the speed expected and the number of users. Their software is known as Cisco IOS. This software provides the required instructions that the hardware uses to enable the Internet connectivity. When the hardware is set and fully connected with the help of cables, the software is installed; and after the installation, the personnel with relevant skills and competencies can operate the system to ensure that the network is usable. The users of the network will access the service through cable or wireless connection depending on the devices that they utilise and the required speed.
At the end of the implementation process, the campus expects to have the Internet connectivity across the institution. The territory where the Internet access will be required mostly will be the administration area. It needs the Internet access to enable the members of staff to execute their occupational responsibilities. Since most systems are maintained online, access to a stable network provides permanent connection, which boosts the service delivery. The library will also require the stable access since it is the resource centre for students. These areas will determine how the deliverables will be made.
The first deliverable will be the scope of the project. The scope will encompass the activities of the whole project from the start to the end. Moreover, it will entail the material requirements for the project, the human capital requirements and the timelines needed to finish the project.
The second deliverable will be the marking of the areas where the hardware will be fixed; furthermore, the security systems need to be put in place before the hardware parts are installed. The hardware will be connected with cables which will have to pass underground to avoid cases of vandalism due to carelessness. Therefore, trenches will also form a part of the second deliverable.
The third deliverable will include the fixing of the cables in the trenches and backfilling of the trenches to secure the cables. The backfilling will be done by casual labourers who will be sourced from around the campus. The cables will also have to be delivered to the areas where the hardware installation will be executed.
The fourth deliverable will be the transportation of the hardware from the supplier to the site and its installation. The transporting part will be done by the supplier as agreed. The supplier will deliver the hardware to the site where the project manager will check it to confirm the delivery. Thereafter, the team will install the machines as per the markings done. The installation process will be the most demanding with regard to labour.
After the installation of the hardware and connection of the cables, the experts from Cisco Systems will perform their work. The software will be installed as required by the team, and the Cisco team will be further addressed at the request to handle the malfunctions.
The last deliverable will be the blueprint. Both wireless and LAN networks will be checked using the devices provided by the supplier. Thereafter, the devices within the institution will test the network to establish whether it works. After the tests, the testers will provide a document with details on how the network operates and how to troubleshoot problems when they arise.
The evaluation process is not a one-time thing. It requires time and tests to be run from the installation to the experience of end users. The evaluation stage will look at the objectives and how they have been implemented. Therefore, the evaluation phase will regard the following aspects.

The latter will use the Internet mostly in the library as they research the materials to aid their learning as well as on their hand-held devices that use Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The students are the majority of the users; therefore, a representative sample will be chosen and presented with a set of questions requiring their response. This will provide the information regarding the strength of the cable Internet and also the wireless connectivity. The students will also test different wireless connectivity regions set by the project team to determine the areas served by the routers. Their responses will enable the project team to determine whether the routers installed are sufficient to cover all areas of the school.
The project will not be a success without a number of resources required. First of all, they include the finances. The project needs money to first purchase the hardware and software required for Cisco. Another sum from the finances will be used to offset the recurrent expenditure like paying the salaries and wages of the workers involved in the project. Therefore, the finances have to be available before the project is commenced to prevent the unnecessary delays once all activities are underway.
Secondly, the project needs people. All the machines and inputs will not fix themselves unless the required expertise is involved. The project will need casual labourers who will dig the trenches to lay the cables that will carry the network. The hardware and software installation processes will also require specific personnel who will be sourced from Cisco. The testing and evaluation of the job will be done by the personnel from Cisco in collaboration with contact persons from the campus.
Thirdly, there will be a need for equipment to enable the work progress. The digging of trenches will require hoes and shovels plus some blasting materials in case the labourers encounter rocks. The movements to and from the project area will require motor vehicles. Moreover, there is also a need for a secure storage facility that will house all the equipment after it has been used. The storage area should be on site to enable easier access to materials. This will save time since the project has strict time frames.
Lastly, the project will require specific facilities for housing the servers. This will involve the construction of a well-ventilated office which has the security features required for a server room. The room will be highly secured with the limited access granted to relevant personnel only. This will enable the proper functioning of the network as well as the quick and efficient response to queries from the users.
