Research City: Idaho City

Located in the western part of the United States, Idaho is among the least populous states with approximately 1.6 million inhabitants. It has a total of 44 counties and 201 municipals. There is the similarly named city: Idaho City. During the times of gold rush, the city used to be the largest mining town in western U.S., owing to the great number of tourists in the city. Since then, everything has changed, but its landscape retains the uncharted mysteries of those old days.

Economics

Skiing enthusiasts love the city because of its Sun Valley which has magnificent facilities for winter sports. The northern part of Idaho receives visitors in all seasons of the year because of its beautiful lakes, resorts, and forest trails. As a result, Coeur d’Alene has significant economic impact on the state’s capital Boise. According to gathered in the year 2010 data, tourism accounted for approximately 7 percent of the overall revenue in Northern Idaho (Visit Idaho). The period from May to October is the peak season for various counties in the state, including Idaho City. However, the number of visitors is relatively low between March and May.

Historical Aspects

The historical significance of Idaho City is descended from its native tribes. Native Americans had populated the region. Initially, it was known for fur trading. However, this changed after the fur trading became unsustainable. After the state was declared, Idaho had its major mining district in Coeur d’Alene. From 1860 to 1866, 20 percent of all gold in the U.S. was mined here. Consequently, the economy of Idaho shifted from mining to agriculture. Major mining towns reinvented themselves into resorts such as Blaine county with its Sun Valley Resort. Other mining towns such as Rocky Bar and Silver City became ghost towns. Since then, the state has evolved into its current state.

Transportation

Idaho has a modest public transport system within its major cities. Apart from that, there are no major transits. Mostly, the City is served by the State Highway 21. This highway has two undivided lanes. It also serves as a link between Boise and Southwest. The city has a number of interstate highways, including the I-15 in Eastern Idaho, serving Idaho Falls and Pocatello city, the I-84 connects the Oregon borders through Twin Falls to Salt Lake City, and the I-86, connecting the eastern and south-central parts of Idaho (links I-15 and I-84). In winter, tourists are often advised to be careful on the roads.

There is the airport for those who would like to save time flying straight above the winding roads. Despite the cost, many visitors choose airplanes to avoid the risks of landslide which is common in highlands of Idaho. In fact, it is the best way to admire the beautiful scenery of the city.

Convention

Idaho Falls Event Center: It has capacity of 5,000 seats and a lodge to seat more guests if needed. Some of the conventions that have been held in this center include: Mayor’s Business Day Conference, which is an annual event. The event took place in April 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and was attended by numerous executives and potential investors.

Special Events:

Idaho Hospital Association Annual conference: This is an annual event where hospital management teams from over the state meet and discuss healthcare issues. Idaho Partnership Conference on human Services. Historic Downtown Boise Food and Cultural Tour.

 Available Entertainment and Attraction

Idaho has several attraction sites as well as source of entertainment drawn from its rich cultural mix-up.  The Banner Ridge Yurt may be found along the Highway 21. If one, for instance, prefers hiking in the hills, this is a good alternative to traditional hotels.
